Led by virtuoso mandolinist Elias Barboza alongside the heavy-hitting jazz trio Kiai Grupo, the project dives deep into the traditional roots of Brazilian Choro while engaging in an intense, open dialogue with the aesthetic freedom of contemporary Jazz.

• Elias Barboza (Mandolin / Bandolim):
  A premier voice in contemporary Brazilian instrumental music, composer, arranger, and music educator from Porto Alegre. Renowned for his lyricism and flawless technique, he serves as the Cultural Director of the Choro Jazz Café and conductor of the Orquestra Típica de Porto Alegre. Praised by guitar legend Yamandu Costa as “a magnificent creator who plays with a wonderful, deep feeling.”
• Marcelo Vaz (Piano):
  Pianist, composer, and master improviser. As a founding member of Kiai Grupo, Vaz is the architectural force behind the band’s sophisticated harmonic landscapes, blending classical piano structures with free-form jazz experimentation.
• Dionísio Souza (Electric Bass):
  Bass player, composer, and educator. Known for his intense groove, rhythmic stability, and real-time sonic research. His playing provides the solid foundation and harmonic sensitivity that drives the quartet’s collective dialogue.
