NEW ALBUM DAKAR – BRAZZAVILLE.
The Congolese rumba is a musical genre that appeared in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and in the Republic of the Congo, it comes from the Cuban rumba of the 1930s. The decades following the independence of the countries from 1960, are the age of gold of the Congolese rumba, we can mention among its representatives the formation Tp Ok Jazz, Franco, Sam Mangwana, Zaiko Langa Langa etc…
Congolese music has always had an alliance with Senegalese music and it is in this marriage that this Dakar -Brazza project was born with Idrissa Diop and a young Congolese singer Eved SITA.

Idrissa DIOP is a singer percussionist Born in Malika (region de Dakar), he began his professional career at the age of 16 years in the Rio Group. His ethnic origins (Serer, Wolof and Fulani) enrich it with various musical traditions.
From 1976 to 1980, he played in the Sahel group in Dakar, of which he was one of the founding members. This group is one of the first to modernize Senegalese music.
In 1982, during his European tour, he took part in the recording of the Gorgui album, then he goes to the United States with his talented musician friend guitarist Chekh Tidiane Tall to record the Guedj album.
In 1983, he returned to Dakar for a major Senegalese tour with his band Tabala.
In 1984, he returned to Paris to accompany Ray LÉMA for a European tour. The same year, he took part in the
Australian tour of Chriss HINSE He then plays as percussionist in the band JERICHO, for the release of Fela
Anikulapo KUTI, who performs in front of 350,000 people, places de la Concorde, during a concert organized by SOS Racisme in June 1985.
In September 1985, he founded his own group Les Gaîendés, which means “Lions”, emblem of his country. He sings in Wolof, national language of Senegal. The topics it addresses deal with
great social problems of Africa: apartheid, immigration, hunger…
In December 1985, Celluloid released his first album entitled Misaal which means “The World of Today”.
He then participated in the first two albums of the group Sixun: Nuit Blanche and Pygmées.
Idrissa DIOP is an artist who has had to perform on major world stages alongside Carlos SANTANA,
Steve WONDER, Areta FRANKLIN, Yanick NOAH, Jacques HIGELIN, Salif KEITA, Manu DIBANGO, Ismaël LO, Youssou NDOUR,
Alpha BLONDY, Angelique KIDJO etc ….
