In 2024, Mauro Senise, Cristovão Bastos and Romero Lubambo release the CD Lembrando Garoto, a celebration of the great art of Brazilian master of the guitar, Aníbal Sardinha, o Garoto.
In 2024 the Mauro Senise Channel in YouTube surpassed the mark of one and a half million viewings.
In 2022, Cristovão Bastos and Mauro Senise release the CD Choro Negro – Cristovão Bastos e Mauro Senise tocam Paulinho da Viola (Biscoito Fino), a celebration of Paulinho’s 80th anniversary. This CD was nominated for Latin Grammy Awards 2023 on the category of Best Instrumental Album.
In 2021, in partnership with guitarist, composer and arranger Roberto D’Araújo, Mauro brings out three digital CDs with arrangements for virtual orchestra: Saudades da Música (including compositions by Roberto D’Araújo), Cinema Musical (with movie themes) and Melodia Brasileira (MPB classics). Also in 2021, Mauro releases another digital CD, Reflexos, with pianist and composer Alberto Chimelli.
In 2020, he releases on Biscoito Fino the CD Ilusão à tôa – Mauro Senise toca Johnny Alf, a heartfelt tribute to the great Brazilian singer, pianista, composer and arranger.
Also in 2019, Mauro Senise and Gilson Peranzzetta release the CD Cinema a dois, a collection of jazz interpretations of songs from the movies.
In 2018, Edu Lobo, Mauro Senise and Romero Lubambo got together again and recorded a new CD for Biscoito Fino label, Quase memória. Released in 2019, it includes two unpublished songs by Edu: “Silêncio”, with lyrics by Vinícius de Moraes, and “Peregrina”.
On May 2017, Mauro releases the CD Dos navegantes, a partnership between Edu Lobo, Mauro Senise and Romero Lubambo. This was a follow up of their successful blend of talents in Todo sentimento. The álbum includes less known songs from master Edu Lobo, among them the unpublished “Noturna”. Dos navegantes won Latin Grammy Award 2017 on the category of Best MPB Album.
Still in 2016, Mauro brings out a duo album with Brazilian guitarist Romero Lumambo, a USA resident: Todo sentimento, with the special participations of Edu Lobo, Jota Moraes, Mingo Araújo, Kiko Horta and Bruno Aguilar.
In 2015, Mauro Senise and Gilson Peranzzetta celebrate their 25 years of partnership with the album Dois na Rede, a collection of MPB standards.
The year of 2014 marks for Mauro Senise another Biscoito Fino release, the CD Danças, in the company of Jota Moraes, Cristovão Bastos, Gilson Peranzzetta and Antônio Adolfo, among others. A companion DVD, brings four of the CD tracks coreographed by the mercurial dancer Deborah Colker, and danced by Deborah and Chico Diaz, under the direction of Walter Carvalho.
In 2012 Mauro records the CD and DVD Afetivo in celebration of his 40 years of career, with the participation of key musicians of those four decades, such as Egberto Gismonti, Hermeto Pascoal, Gilson Peranzzetta, Edu Lobo e Wagner Tiso, Jota Moraes, Sueli Costa, Rosana Lanzelotte, among many others.
In 2011, together with Edu Lobo and Gilson Peranzzetta, Mauro Senise was featured in Amsterdam as soloist with the Dutch concert orchestra Metropole. On the same year, Senise releases CD and DVD 100 Anos de Noel
Rosa in partnership with Gilson Peranzzetta.
In 2009 he brings out, on the Biscoito Fino label, Lua Cheia – Mauro Senise toca Dolores Duran e Sueli Costa and receives another nomination, for Latin Grammy 2009, on the category of Best Instrumental Album.
Also in 2006, Mauro releases on the label Biscoito Fino the combo CD/DVD Casa Forte – Mauro Senise toca Edu Lobo, featuring the singer and composer, one of the giants of MPB (acronym for Música Popular Brasileira).
In 2005, Senise brings out the album Tempo Caboclo, having as guest artist pianista, vibraphonist, composer and arranger Jota Moraes. The CD was nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards 2006 on the Category of Classical Music Best Album.
A bright repertorial coup brought to light in 2002 another Mauro Senise CD, Vênus, a collection of songs titled after women’s names.
On May 2002, Mauro was one of the soloists featured at New York’s Lincoln Center on the show The Music by Pixinguinha, under the direction of guitarist Romero Lubambo.
In 1990, with the CD Vera Cruz, Mauro started his congenial partnership with pianist, composer and arranger Gilson Peranzzetta. Along the years, the duo brought out a series of 12 brilliant CDs.
In 1988 he recorded his first solo album, Mauro Senise, in the following year his second album, Jade.
Born in Rio de Janeiro on May, 18, 1950 – grandson of renowned thinker Alceu Amoroso Lima – Mauro Senise started his successful career in 1972. He studied classical flute with Odette Ernest Dias and saxophone with Paulo Moura. For many years he played and recorded with such masters of Brazilian instrumental music as Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti, Wagner Tiso and Luís Eça, and with Grupo Um. Together with Pascoal Meirelles he founded the group Cama de Gato in 1985.
