Considered the direct heir to his father’s talent, Danilo Caymmi is at a great point in his career. He began studying the flute at the age of 15, he quickly established himself as a musician and later as a composer, but under the encouragement of Tom Jobim, he began to sing as well. Today he stands out as one of the country’s greatest performers.
As a musician, he worked a lot with his father, Dorival Caymmi, and with many names in Brazilian music, until he joined Tom Jobim’s band, “Banda Nova”, in 1984, which would change his life.
During this period with Tom, in addition to being a flutist, he was an apprentice of the “Great Maestro”, always being by his side, accompanying him not only in concerts around the world, such as in Finland, Sweden, the United States, Portugal, Russia, Germany and Argentina, but also being present in many surveys and musical arrangements, becoming Tom’s “band leader” and “side man”.
He started singing the songs “A Felicidade” and “Samba do Avio”, awarded with excellent reviews all over the world, which further stimulated his solo work.
As a composer, he has many hits, in partnership with his father, as a soloist or with many other partners. Among his songs, “Andança” and “Casaco Brown”, which have just commemorated 50 years of existence and success, stand out.
For television, he composed for soap operas and mini-series as “O Que é o Amor”, theme of the actress Vera Fischer in the soap opera “Riacho Doce” ;
